1980's

Political events were a focus of the 1980’s both at home and abroad.

In 1982 Britain sent troops to recapture the Falkland Islands after Argentina invaded them.
In 1984 the IRA bombed the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
In 1989 the Chinese government crushed student protestors in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.
The Berlin Wall also came down in 1989.
And on TV…. Dynasty, Dallas and the Colby’s proved that power dressing and big hair were in fashion, and the age of MTV and the CD began.
